Introduction

Revive Adserver Hosted edition is updated to the most recent software version 6.0, which was published initially in October 2025 and went through a few iterations of bug fixes and security improvements in the following months.

This version brings major performance improvements in on-screen statistics and caters for further future growth of our subscriber base.

In this blog post, you can read about the changes and enhancements that are most important to you as a subscriber to this service.

End-user changes in v6.0

The most important changes are invisible to end-users, and have to do with refinements in the internal coding of the application to make it work on modern versions of the PHP programming language. PHP is at the core of the Revive Adserver system.

There are some changes that end-users will notice, though. We’ve been able to make the on-screen reports work even faster by carefully analyzing the database queries that provide the data for them, and tweaking and fine-tuning them to better align with real-life usage. We’ve seen situations where a report that used to take over 1 minute now completes in less than 5 seconds.

However, it can still happen from time to time, especially when large numbers of users are logged in and running reports, that there is a noticeable wait time while navigating the user interface. To let users know that the system is actually working on what they’re doing, a subtle but clear “loading” animation has been added, which should be easier to spot than the corresponding animation in the page icon that most browsers display nowadays. Seeing the Loading animation should discourage users from clicking “refresh” when all they need to do is to patiently wait for the action to complete. And this in turn should avoid long queues of identical actions that sometimes make people wait longer than they should be.

We’ve also added a check and on-screen warning when assets like images are being used that are not HTTPS in banners, which would make the entire banner ineligible for delivery on HTTPS pages. And we fixed an issue preventing webp banners from being displayed on Newsletter zones and when using Image Invocation Code.
